The Anatomy of a Well Pump Cover

Posted by CJ Monte on July 14, 2022

pump-cabinetMost well pump systems look like the one shown in these photos and are found outside in rural areas where city water isn’t readily available. They are made up of a pump, pressure tank, pressure switch, pressure relief valve, control box, and a circuit breaker. There’s also a well head nearby that sticks up a foot or two above ground. In the case where well pump equipment is located outside of a building or home, a well pump cover is strongly recommended.

So what does the anatomy of a Safe-T-Cover well pump cover look like?

Safe-T-Cover’s well pump covers are made from 5052 marine-grade aluminum. This is a hardy aluminum that holds up exceptionally well to weather and the elements over time. It will not decompose or be a favorite snack of bugs and other critters. We offer these  in three colors: Sierra Tan, Slate Gray and Hartford Green at no additional cost for standard models.

7The interior of a Safe-T-Cover’s well pump cover is lined with polyisocyanurate roofing insulation 1.5” thick in the walls (9.0 R-value) and 3” thick in the roof (18.0 R-value). The insulation accomplishes a two things. First, it provides some noise dampening capabilities, and second, it helps keep equipment from freezing during the winter months. The last thing anyone needs is for their equipment to freeze, stopping the flow of water to their home or business. Finally, redwood studs are utilized to provide added strength and support.

Our Safe-T-Cover well pump covers offer two additional features, one, the ability to secure equipment inside while providing easy access for equipment maintenance or replacement. Each well pump cover comes with removable and pad-lockable access panels. The roof is either completely removable as well or hinged to provide additional access.

While the well pump cover itself does a nice job of protecting pump equipment inside, you may also want to consider additional items like ventilation to keep equipment from overheating in the summer and heaters to keep things warm and toasty during the harsh winter months.
